What if Covid-19 is not to blame? There is a lot of fear and uncertainty in the air these days. Many of us are living in an age of much ado about what to do. We worry about our health and that of our loved ones. Our income and future economics cause us stress. We wonder about what the new normal will be and when it will come.
These stimuli and many more certainly make it look like the cause of our experience comes from outside of ourselves. Maybe even that we have no control and maybe worse, that we are victims of our environment. How many times have you blamed Covid-19 for how you feel since this adventure began?
My partner and I remembered yesterday that despite Covid related changes at her work, which appeared to be causing some temporary stress for us, nothing between us had changed. It was really invigorating to remember that what is happening around us does not bind us to an experience directly but only comes to us through the transient nature of our personal thinking.
What if we create our reality? Might that mean we are not victims of our environment? If Covid-19 is not the reason we see the world as we do could there be other things we innocently blame for our experience of life? Does a bank account balance feel different to us from one day to the next? Maybe our relationships could look a little different if we didn’t already know the reason we feel how we do in the moment is because “my partner just did that.”
If you could see it however you wanted to might you see the world differently? Is it possible that the fear and uncertainty in the air these days might look a little different if we understood our part in our experience a little more clearly?
